California Prevention Training Center
Jennifer served as communications strategist at the California Prevention Training Center (Center) for three years. The Center’s mission is to build capacity across the health-care workforce through training, skill building, and professional resources that enhance service delivery. The Center sought to elevate its mission, its impact, and more broadly, raise awareness of current sexual health issues.
Initially, Jennifer carried out a needs assessment among Center staff to understand challenges and opportunities for the organization. This informed the creation of a robust long-term communications plan.
Jennifer clarified the Center’s master messaging, contributed significantly to redesigning the website, and established the Center’s newsletter series. She produced and hosted an original podcast series, Speaking Frankly, that illuminated timely sexual health issues through interviews with world-class public health leaders.
During the onset of COVID-19, the Center pivoted to help slow the spread of the illness, drawing on its expertise in disease investigation. Jennifer facilitated more than 30 online training sessions to prepare thousands of Californians to become contact tracers.
